Life After Diagnosis

A Support Group for Chronic Illness Sufferers

Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, loss of sleep, feelings of isolation, loss of control, or having difficulty functioning in your everyday life because of a chronic physical illness? Do you want to connect with others who are learning to live life after a chronic illness diagnosis?

The group meets bi-weekly - Tuesdays 4:30-6:00 p.m. at Oasis Counseling Center. In addition to providing a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment, the group tackles a variety of topics designed to help group members better navigate their illnesses. Topics include: increasing your coping skills, lessening your symptoms of depression and anxiety, dealing with your loss of control, communicating with others about your illness, becoming your own advocate, and increasing your ability to function. Stacy Sampson, a licensed professional counselor who is well versed in chronic pain, will facilitate the group.

Stacy will complete a phone intake with each group member prior to starting the group. This phone intake will allow Stacy to get to know you, address any questions or concerns you may have, and gather background information about you and your chronic illness. This information will help her to tailor certain aspects of the group to your and other group members' needs.
