Teresa holds a bachelor's degree in Music Therapy and a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, and has experience in a variety of mental health settings. Working with diverse clients in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric centers, the public schools, cancer and eating disorder centers, community mental health, forensic settings, and the Veterans Administration has given her deep insight into the human condition and taught her everyone’s story is important.
Teresa recognizes feelings of depression, fear, anxiety, confusion, anger, and other struggles beset us all at times. Creating an environment where people can feel safe and heard is vital, and she believes in creating a therapeutic alliance to be alongside individuals as a nonjudgmental support in their journey to wholeness and independence.
Teresa listens to clients' unique needs, and utilizing an eclectic and integrated approach to the whole person, uses empathy and compassion while also asking challenging questions to explore ideas and guide discovery to help clients arrive at their own destinations.
Teresa has enjoyed working with children, adolescents, and adults, and believes in collaborating with each individual to find the right evidence-based interventions for them. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist Individual (CCTSI), has had training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and has experience helping others with depression, PTSD, managing stress, addressing life transitions, and navigating the challenges of emotional and psychiatric disorders.
