Becky Kim is an LAPC (Licensed Associate Professional Counselor) and works with individuals, couples and small groups.

Becky graduated from Brenau University with her Master’s in Clinical Counseling Psychology (2018) and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia (2001). Between degree programs, Becky founded and co-owned a wedding flower business near Athens.

A person-centered and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) approach are the basis of Becky’s approach to counseling, with goals of increasing awareness and allowance of feelings and thoughts. She provides a supportive, respectful, and empowering presence to connect with the patchwork of emotions which everyone experiences. She focuses on her client’s priorities and on enhancing psychological flexibility to strengthen her client’s behaviors in the direction of their values, while developing mindfulness and self-compassion.

Becky’s academic internships with Family Counseling Services of Athens, the Brenau Center for Counseling and Psychological Services, and My Sister’s Place provided Becky with over 700 hours of varied experience in topics of anxiety, depression, grief, life changes, learning and neurodevelopmental disorders, trauma, women’s issues, parenting issues, and anger management.

Becky has a devotion to working with pregnant mothers, new parents, and those who have lost children. She is welcoming to clients with varied religious and cultural backgrounds and sexual orientations.

Becky enjoys living in the country outside of Athens with her husband, two young kids, and their dogs, cats, chickens, and horses. She destroys her kitchen daily with cooking or baking, enjoys sewing for fun, vacuums a lot of dog hair, and tries to keep her life balanced and simple.
