Adan holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling psychology. He has practiced counseling in inpatient psychiatric facilities, non-profit outpatient facilities, dual diagnostic settings, and state mental health correctional facilities. He is experienced working with adults and provides services to Spanish speaking clients. Throughout his career, he has coordinated treatment with teams of nursing and psychiatric staff, treatment case reviews, and on-call services to provide a more comprehensive approach to treatment.
Adan has provided treatment to clients suffering with depression, anxiety, anger issues, and with a history of physical-sexual-emotional abuse and other traumas. He utilizes an eclectic, empathetic approach to help clients realize their inner potential to resolve their conflicts. He is a strong motivator in helping clients discover their best qualities and become resolute in healing and implementing them to secure a more promising and healthier way of living. Other issues that Adan has addressed in counseling include building distress response skills, emotion regulation, problem solving skills, low self-esteem, self-harm behaviors, psychotic symptoms, and bereavement.
Adan is a licensed clinician and continuously receives training in cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy, client centered approaches, and EMDR, among others.
Adan works with clients of all sexualities, while being sensitive to multicultural dynamics, and welcomes Spanish speaking clients. He enjoys reading, lazy Sunday afternoons watching movies, and soccer games.
